Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps)

The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Municipal Action Team Malita under the DSWD conducted an activity symposium entitled “Let’s Do Gender Rights: Pakighinabi sa Tribuhonon with a theme: Dialogue for Change Creating Spaces for Open Discussion on Early Marriage and (GAD) Gender and Development” held at 73rd Infantry Battalion HQ Covered Court, Brgy. Felis, Malita, Davao Occidental.

In synchronicity of the International Women’s Month Celebration, Women’s Association of Malita (WAM) President Mdm. Jean Seekins Bautista was invited to impart her inspirational message to the expected participants from the entire DSWD 4Ps municipal officers, as well as selected provincial and regional program management staff, lined agencies such as AFP, PNP, UTOM Reperestatives, and municipality’s Tribal Chieftains.

WAM President imbibed principles in social change and transformation due to the bandwagon of our youth’s generation, mainly the course on aforesaid topic especially those who belong to indigenous cultural committees and community.

On the other hand, Ma’am Erma P. Sulpot, Public Schools District Supervisor of Malita West District also shared her inspirational talk concerning cultural diversity. She added parents are the ones who push the failures and success of their children.

Atty. Leonor T. Oralde-Quintayo, Provincial Officer on the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples conveyed “RA. 11596” otherwise known as the “Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act” She emphasized the state affirms that a marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of capacitated parties, and that child betrothal and marriage have no legal effect.

Through the maximum effort and stronger engagements of our partner agencies, stakeholders, and beneficiaries, let us soar together toward the new heights of empowering women and children. Therefore, it takes a community to raise a child.
