The Municipal Health Office of the Local Government Unit of Malita launched a Filariasis Awareness Campaign. This campaign started at the Municipal Hall covered area followed by a motorcade for public awareness. Local government employees and Barangay Health Workers also participated. Highlights of this activity are featured below.
In celebration of Barangay Tubalan’s 89th founding anniversary, in cooperation with the Municipal Health Office of the Local Government Unit of Malita, Davao Occidental General Hospital, and the Barangay Council of Brgy. Tubalan held a medical and dental mission for its people.
More than 125 residents of Brgy. Tubalan was given medical and dental checkups, medicines, and other basic health services. These services were provided to men, women, and children of all ages from different parts of the barangay.

Bontia from the Municipal Health Office, Dr. Yna Cresilda D. Friginal and Holly Tracy Varon from Department of Health. They were also joined by Jennifer Balbuena – Dentist, Indira Christine Y. Doromal and Rio Joyce Señeres – Nurse and Collette E. Florentino – Midwife.
On the night of the 26th of December 2024, the Municipality of Malita experienced sudden flash floods that quickly flooded the streets of Brgy. Poblacion, particularly at the bus terminal, public market, and nearby areas. Evacuation measures were quickly raised by LGU Malita through the office of the Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office headed by Maam Marlou Ompod. Also responded to the rescue efforts by other local agencies from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippines National Police, and the 73rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army. There were several other barangays reported who have suffered severe flooding especially those who are along the river areas. Relief operations were immediately implemented at the evacuation center at the Malita Gym with the aid from the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office, DSWD, and other local agencies.
