Malita Flooding

On the night of the 26th of December 2024, the Municipality of Malita experienced sudden flash floods that quickly flooded the streets of Brgy. Poblacion, particularly at the bus terminal, public market, and nearby areas. Evacuation measures were quickly raised by LGU Malita through the office of the Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office headed by Maam Marlou Ompod. Also, the rescue efforts were responded to by other local agencies, such as the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Philippine National Police, and the 73rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army. There were several other barangays reported who have suffered severe flooding especially those who are along the river areas. Relief operations were immediately implemented at the evacuation center at the Malita Gym with the aid of the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office, DSWD, and other local agencies.
